Interior & stairs leading to extension
In cooperation with DTZ we did a pitch for the concept of the new extension of the Loyens & Loeff office in Amsterdam. We were asked to consider the quality of the interior of the existing building with its big atrium and the surroundings of the office including the Rietveld Academy. Our study should lead to an architecture briefing.

By doing workshops and using visuals we came to understand Loyens & Loeff. The new extension should be harmonious, powerful and ageless.

Based on the measurements  and specifics of the existing buiding a lifted volume is positioned next to it. The lifted volume gives room for a view on the entrance of the Rietveld Academy. A large bridge creates a passage between the existing building and the new, it enlarges the atrium and melts the old and new together. The possibility of an extra entrance at the side of the Rietveld Academy gives room for extra tenants and enrichment of the area.
